From the bottom of the base to the top of the tail, 9 inches high. Marble base is 8 inches long by 5 wide. By Frederic Remington 1898, cast before 1939.

In his third sculpture, "The Wicked Pony, " Remington reversed the dominance of the cowboy over horse depicted in his highly successful "Broncho Buster" (1986.81.2). Here the cowboy has been thrown to the ground and struggles to maintain a hold on the ear of his bucking horse.
