Bronze dimensions with marble base: height 30.5 cm x width 17.8 cm. Marble dimensions: Diameter 7" Height without base: 11". Kronos is the son of Ouranos and Gaea, the youngest of the Titans. Cronos overthrew his father, with the help of his mother, and became the supreme ruler of the universe. He then married Rhea, his sister, who gave birth to the great Gods.

To prevent the fate of his father from recurring, he swallowed each of his children as they were born. However, when his last son, Zeus, was born, Rhea hid the child on the island of Crete and instead gave Kronos a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes.

When Zeus became old enough, he challenged his father and forced him to vomit his brothers and sisters Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia. The Cyclops, who was released by Zeus, fashioned the famous thunderbolts and lightning bolts for Zeus as a sign of gratitude. These weapons played a decisive role in the defeat of the Titans (in a battle known as the Titanomachy) by Zeus and his brothers and sisters.
