Add this shop to my favorites. Small animal sculpture signed C. Masson in golden patina bronze representing a small mouse nibbling pieces of sugar (in alabaster), marble base, from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. This sculpture is in good condition.
Note: micro-chips on the edge of the marble, minimal signs of wear over time, see photos. He is a French animal sculptor. Clovis Masson was a student of the French sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye. He specializes in animal representation.
He most often uses plaster, wax or bronze as materials. From 1867, he regularly exhibited at the Salon de Paris until 1881. He created over fifty works until 1909. The city of Nîmes has several sculptures by the artist in its municipal museum. Dimensions: mouse 8.5 cm x 4.5 cm Height: total 9.5 cm / without base 7.5 cm Base: 105 cm x 8.8 cm.
