Paola Martelli Abstract Sculpture in Bronze and Marble, Signed, Space Age

  

Rare abstract “space age” sculpture by designer and visual artist Paola Martelli (1931–), Italy, circa 1970. Typical of her creations from this period (shown in photos in the reference book on her works), which were also used for jewelry design. A solid, high-quality piece that changes depending on the angle from which it is viewed, in the tradition of the work of Italian artists of the era known as “op art.” Hand-signed in cursive engraving on the lower part of the bronze sculpture. Probably a unique piece, unnumbered and without a foundry stamp.

No notable defects to report. Natural patina on the bronze parts, no oxidation, only minor wear with no excessive scratches. Original base, with edges and corners preserved. Weight without solid, secure packaging: 2.890 kg.
