Paola Martelli Signed Abstract Bronze and Marble Sculpture, Space Age

Rare “Space Age” abstract sculpture by designer and visual artist Paola Martelli (1931–), Italy, circa 1970. Typical of her creations from this period, which also inspired jewelry designs (the reference book on her work is shown in the photos). A substantial, high-quality piece whose appearance changes depending on the viewing angle, in the tradition of the Italian “Op Art” artists of the time. Hand-signed in cursive script, engraved into the bronze near the bottom of the sculpture. Probably a unique piece, with no numbering or foundry mark. No notable flaws to report. The bronze sections have a natural patina, with no oxidation and only minor rubbing, without significant scratches.

Original base, with well-preserved corners and edges. Weight excluding sturdy, secure packaging: 2.890 kg.
